Contestant's Name: Heidi Entered on 1/12/2008 12:12:33 PM I had just lost my grandfather to cancer and we buried him the day before Halloween. Prior to his passing my then "boyfriend" and I were supposed to visit my grandfther in hospice one afternoon after I got out of school. That very day was the day I got the call saying I needed to get down there fast because he wasn't going to make it much longer. Well my poppy hung in there for another night and my "boyfriend" stood by my side. I just kept wishing he could at least see me engaged and know I would be taken care of. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his entire family. Halloween is by far one of my most favorite holidays. I love the fall and the the fun of it all. This Halloween obviously wasn't going to be the same. That night my family and I took my niece trick or treating. When we got back to the house my "boyfriend" handed me a pumpkin filled with candy. At the time I oblivious as to why everyone was standing around us with cameras and a video camera. I was just excited by all the hersheys and reese's inside the pumpkin but then I saw a tiny box buried amongst the candy. When I took it out he got down on one knee and I just fell apart. He asked me to marry him and I couldn't even say Yes..I just nodded my head in happy tears. I know my grandfather was there in spirit. Halloween still remains one of my faves!
