| My fiancé Kurt was laid off from his job at a local minor league baseball team, and had planned to do his proposal there. After losing his job he went to another team and set up the scheme there. He told me that the teams had these promotions where a local company sponsors the first pitch in the game and someone gets to throw out that pitch and receive a cash prize. He said that he went to apply for a job with the second team and they agreed to let me throw the pitch (because they felt bad for him having a bad experience with the other team). The plan was that he had a job interview the day of the game that I would throw the pitch, and would be in the interview while I did so. We had all our families there to watch me do it. I went out and threw the pitch, the catcher caught it and came up to me to give me the ball back (to keep), and low and behold... he took of his mask and it was my boyfriend!! He was wearing the uniform and gear and everything!! I was surprised and asked what are you doing here? He pointed, but I did not look right away, then he took out the ring. I looked and the scoreboard said my name and "Will You Merry Me?" The crowd was cheering and someone yelled to him to get down on his knee, which he did. He also had them playing "When A Man Loves a Woman" over the speakers. I of course said yes and was numb with shock!! Everything was a setup, there was no promotion, no money and no job interview, and the families were all in on it. The day was June 14 and just happened to be his birthday and my Grandparents 56th wedding anniversary. Our wedding is set for May 14, 2005.
